JUNE CLUB EVENT SCHEDULED

Mark your calendar's for Saturday, June 14th, 2003 for our next club event. We plan on meeting at Hampton Chevrolet at 9:00am and then depart at 9:30am for a short cruise to Langley AFB, to attend a show & shine benefit to support the military at Langley AFB. Registration to the show & shine is absolutely FREE! The show & shine will start at 12 noon and end at 4:00pm. We'll also pick a location to cruise to afterwards for dinner. Please email me at hot91z@cs.com if you plan on attending, so the base can have a list of members planning on attending. This is so visitor passes can be properly arranged ahead of time. Weather permitting of course. I hope to see as many members as possible, to help promote the club and to pass out flyers for our fall show in September.

New Website For TCA

A 2nd website has been built to further advertise our club. The new site has it's very own URL. You'll definitely want to add it to your favorite sites.

makeawishlogo.jpg

MAW Foundation was inspired in 1980, by a little boy named Chris who had leukemia. he dreamed of becoming a police officer, and some family and friends made this wish come true - if only for a few days. Since then, over 80,000 wishes have been granted by MAW - the largest wish-granting charity in the nation. And while "wishes" don't provide cures, they do provide an opportunity for these children to temporarily "escape" from their trama and recharge there energies to battle their illness. "Doctor's provide the medicine, Make-A-Wish provides some magic!"

The Juvenile Diabetes Foundation (JDF) also works directly for children. Its mission is to find a cure for diabetes and it's many complications, through research. JDF is the #1 non-profit, non-governmental funder of diabetes research WORLDWIDE. Recently named among the Top-10 charities "you can trust".

ADVERTISING FOR OUR GENEROUS SPONSORS

Please visit our "Sponsors Page." Without the generousity of our sponsors, TCA would be fighting an uphill battle just to survive -- it would be nearly impossible to make any difference with our community work. 2000 was a fantastic year from this very important perspective. TCA raised almost $5000 for our charities -- not bad at all for a small car club with a BIG HEARTBEAT! This year, we've already raised and contributed nearly $8000! What a great way to enjoy our hobby AND help our community -- not to mention that it makes us all fell pretty good as well. We SINCERELY THANK all of our sponsors, especially HAMPTON CHEVROLET for their year-round support! Your patronage of our wonderful sponsors is most appreciated. Thank you!

Annual Cruisin the Beach Car Show "A Great Time"

An excellent opportunity was given to TCA to help participate in this year's 5th Annual Boardwalk Car Show in Virginia Beach. Unfortunately, Friday & early Saturday brought liquid sunshine from mother nature. A total of 26 F-Body's were present on the boardwalk. Sunday brought much better weather and a larger turn-out for a total of 41 Camaro's & Firebirds. All 4 generations were represented with everything from Stock to Pro-Street. In fact the GM F-Body's were the largest turn-out in any make and model present at the show! Maria Wert handle the registration, with Bob Wert & Bob Detterman (and assistance form the East Coast Camaro Club) handling the parking and judging. Goody bags with dash plaques, t-shirts, and misc. items were given out to all participants by the city. Awards were given out to all particpants, with "Best of Show" being awarded to Milton & Liz Bullard with their 67 Pro-Street Camaro. Most Club particpation and Long Distance to show went out to the entire group from the East Coast Camaro Club (Massachusetts)!!!! Other clubs that were represented were the Mid-Atlantic Camaro Club, Camaro Legends, Club Z (Richmond) and the Tidewater Trans Am Club. This show could easily become one of the largest F-Body gatherings on the east coast each year. It's very little work and alot of enjoyment for everyonel who participates. Beach Events agrees and I hope we can increase the entrants in years to come. 100 F-Body's is a reasonable goal for 2004! Hope to see you there next year in April.

New Local Magazine
"OCTANE"

A new local auto enthusiast magazine for the Southeastern Virginia area is now available, and the best this is it's FREE !! It's called "OCTANE" and began it's publication March 1st. The magazine covers the area's local race tracks, car shows, events, restoraton tips, state legislation and various classified items. Octane magazine will be distributed to ALL 7-11 stores the 1st Monday of each month, from the Williamsburg area to the Outter Banks of North Carolina. Some 8000 copies will be published monthly. I have spoken to the editor of the magazine about an article about "TCA" in a future issue.

Local Area Cruise In Changes Location

Due to the change in management at Greater Grinders. The local cruise in spot has moved back to it's original location. Genro's Coffee Shop in the Haygood Shopping Center. The weekly event kicks off every Saturday evening at approx. 4pm at the west end of the shopping center. So if you find yourself sitting around with the TV remote in your hand on a Saturday evening. Get off your butt and cruise on over to Genro's and check out some of the area's best rides cruising the streets of the Hampton Roads area.
